HIS 2025 SUSTAINABILITY

HIS connects the healthcare sector with sustainability!

As an event that has been connecting people to technology for over 10 years, we understand the weight and importance of the impact we generate in the world. In this context, we take the lead in various initiatives aimed at promoting social responsibility.

We are committed to ensuring that HIS has a positive impact on people and the planet. We strive to play a key role in helping the entire healthcare community improve its own sustainability by connecting people to the networks and knowledge they need to tackle the major challenges of the future.

As part of our commitment, we are focused on three pillars of sustainability:

1. Inspiring sustainability

Incorporate sustainability into our brand by 2025 to inspire our industry to be more sustainable, promoting the achievement of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages.

Ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education, and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Ensure reliable, sustainable, modern, and affordable access to energy for all.

Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

2. Environmental Responsibility

Become carbon neutral, cut our waste in half, and help our customers reduce their carbon footprint by 2025, as a stepping stone to achieving zero waste and net-zero carbon by 2030 or earlier.

2024 Highlights

We want to have a positive impact on our local community, and in our 2024 edition, we had the opportunity to make a social impact by supporting institutions such as:

  • Doctors Without Borders

  • Instituto Jô Clemente

At HIS 2024, we implemented several initiatives to promote sustainability for the planet, the industry, and the well-being of our attendees. Here are some of them:

  • Totems exclusively focused on sustainability;

  • 80% of the carpet was reused, with only 20% being new;

  • Mobile app and landing page providing access to content, companies, and the event map, reducing paper waste;

  • Medical station available during the event;

  • Ongoing maintenance and repairs in the pavilion to prevent accidents.

How to encourage and improve sustainability at HIS?

As a visitor

  • Consider how you will get to the event and whether you can avoid air travel or use low-carbon transportation, such as public transport or carpooling;
  • Recycle your waste at the venue and in your hotel whenever possible;
  • Support our charity partners: Doctors Without Borders and Instituto Jô Clemente;
  • Consider choosing vegetarian and vegan food options and avoid food waste;
  • Take only the giveaways or brochures you need and will use—consider if digital alternatives are available;
  • Consider the environmental credentials of your hotel when choosing where to stay. Get to know the official HIS travel agency, Feiras & Congressos.
  •

As a sponsor:

  • Think about the waste your booth will generate and try to minimize it as much as possible. Ensure that unavoidable waste is recycled.
  • Select LED lighting and other energy-efficient equipment for your booth, and make sure to turn off your equipment at the end of the day.
  • Optimize your travel by consolidating shipments and choosing logistics companies with strong sustainability credentials.
  • Reduce paper distribution by going digital, and when printing is necessary, use sustainably certified paper.
  • Engage in the many initiatives and discussions throughout the event aimed at facilitating and inspiring the sustainable development of your sector.
  • Inspire the sustainable development of your industry by promoting your company and the sustainability credentials of your products and services.
